MUGUN
Gaining a rep for delivering biting flows over hip hop beats, Coventry rapperMugunusesLauryn Hill’s classic The Sweetest Thing instrumentalto showcase his versatility with his latest offering.‘The Sweetest Ting’is the title track from his up-coming‘The Sweetest Ting EP’which is chalked in for release in late summer. The song acts as an ode to teenage love and angst on the block.
2016 was a breakthrough year for the young emcee, and after winning‘Best Urban Act’at theUnsigned Music Awards, receiving aRated Awards ‘Get Rated’ nominationand havinga track onSonyAtv/Reprezent’s sync project ‘Grime N Reason’, Mugun has been cited as one to watch this year by industry figures.

FRED FREDAS
Fred Fredas is a 22 year old Artist/Songwriter/Musician coming out ofSouth London With his proclivity for soulful instrumentals mixed with gritty, hard hitting vocals; it is not hard to detect both American and British influence in the music of Fred Fredas. An astute and observant storyteller, he harnesses the immediacy of grime with the undeniable sheen of modern hip-hop. The likes of Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson, Andre 3000, The Roots and many more were Fred’s influences as he was growing up and now all those sounds have been manifested in his music.
@FredFredas
BLAISE PASCAL
London based future-soul artist Blaise Pascal unveiled his debut self-titled EP in February. Lead track ‘I Can’t Wait’ (premiered on Clash on 31st Jan 17) samples the melodic hook from Billy Cobham’s ‘Heather’, famously used in hip-hop classic 93 ’til Infinity’ by Souls of Mischief.
A talented musician and authentic storyteller, Blaise’s EP tracks range from exploring the complexities of relationships to addressing serious issues. He regularly takes inspiration from social, political and conscious commentary, such as on the track ‘Dead Man’s Shoes’ (premiered on Complex UK on 14th Feb 17). Heralded as a one to watch by ILUVLIVE, Blaise appears on the ILUVLIVE Hot List for 2017.
Born in Pembury and raised in London, Blaise’s career began with scholarships to Sylvia Young & Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. At the age of 17, his uncle Martin Rex (engineer & producer of artists such as Alison Moyet, Neneh Cherry and The Beat), saw potential and gave him a guitar, igniting a passion for playing and writing that would soon surpass all else.

ZION
If there were a secret lab that created R&B stars, their 2017 model would probably sound something like Zion aka ZF. South London’s own Zion writes sexy songs that celebrate women and never objectify, showcased best on standout single “Wavey”. His 2016 release “Let’s Go” features a confident voice and mature sound, with eclectic production that keeps his UK Urban sound fresh.

Ebony Buckle & Friends
Many moons ago, Ebony met a boy called Nick Burns while he was playing a show at Underbelly. Well they say they met… she actually just pointed at him and said “he’s nice”. Turns out those were the magic words he had been waiting to hear and ever since then they have been partners in crime, as well as partners in a quirky folk duo!
So it is with great joy that Ebony Buckle will be headlining at Underbelly alongside Nick the Nice on the 17th of August.
Come and join Ebony Buckle as they sing songs inspired by the stories she grew up with, the creatures she would love to meet, and the ridiculous situations she manages to get in to! All in all an experience that is dramatic, moving and oftentimes just a little bit strange!
She will be joined by some wonderfully talented musicians:
Meg Burrows - Ipswich-based Meg Burrows is a beautiful songwriter and singer who writes her songs in the kitchen. She has just released her album Songs from the Lane.
Fox Jackson - Earth Wind and Fire meets Billy Elliot…
